Bound For Glory Interview

Hello Ed, I hope I find you in nice condition of health and spirits. Seven years have passed, since I did an interview with you, back in November 2005 (the first interview I ever done). What has changed for you - both on personal level and with your music activity?

 I am just living the dream J After a long time of taking care of responsibilities for me as well as some of the other guys, we kind of got the bug again and have been writing and recording new music. You could say it is a new era for us, new attitude, and the love for what we do has gotten us to make music again.

Tell us a breif history of the skinhead scene in Minnesota or in your area and where the origins of BFG were born in the late 1980s?

We were young guys that would go to hardcore shows. We naturally gravitated to the shaved head/combat boot look which fit us and our attitude well. We were into the great hardcore bands of its era, plus you had skinhead hardcore bands like Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Negative Approach and etc. We met other guys that were like us and we hit it off very good with them. Then we got introduced to this band we had been hearing about, but none of us were able to get our hands on any music by them, then finally we got to hear it and found a place that carried this bands albums. That band being Skrewdriver. Of course that led to Brutal Attack and all these other bands that we had heard about. We had read in various magazines about how "evil" and "bad" these bands were, so of course we had to go and listen to them :) 

Around this time, many guys cropped up in St.Paul. There was a high school where many "immigrants" from Chicago were resettled to. These individuals from Chicago were gangsters, had their own gangs and they would single out schoolkids and beat them up or try to shake them down, they would deal drugs and etc. Enough was enough and a bunch of guys got together, shaved their heads and put on the boots and braces and put these gangsters in place. Pretty soon it became a phenomena with all of these guys with shaved heads and black boots. Needless to say, the liberals were not too happy with this, and of course the media started spouting their liquid hate in the papers.

We saw how bad the media was with their lies when they spoke of us. Yet, we were not the ones robbing people, dealing drugs, or blindly attacking anyone. We were working class guys that loved our families, our neighborhoods and our music. When we started seeing all of the gangster rap and the hatred being spewed forth by MTV. It was only natural for BFG to stand up and fight back with our music. We were a reaction to the action of the music industry and the media and to the criminals that had invaded our streets. 

Bound for Glory are back with a bang. What have motivated all you to re-activate the band, which have been silent for so many years?

 There are many parts to our motivation. For one, the people that love our music and look to us to keep making albums. The wonderful people we have gotten to know have been a big inspiration for us. Also the fact that it is in our blood. Like I said before, we have a much more different outlook these days, but what is most important to us is that we can feel the music. It would not exist if we did not feel it in our bones and hearts!!

BFG played in Hungary just few weeks ago. What are your impressions from atmosphere of the gig, and your trip to European soil in general?

Amazing!! I can’t speak highly enough of all the people we have encountered on our travels. The hospitality, the laughs, the cheers, it was all second to none!! My heart swells with pride at the amazing people I have gotten to meet!!! 

Which are the bands from Nationalist scene you wanted to play with, but you’ve never had a chance to?

Of course, the one band we would have loved to have shared the stage with is the one and only Skrewdriver. If I were to mention another band off the top of my head that is around today, I would say Estirpe Imperial.

  

Did you ever got in touch with some so called mainstream metal bands and hows their reaction about your lyrics which are straight and "politically incorrect"?

I personally know of big mainstream musicians that are big BFG fans, but they can’t voice that opinion loudly.  And these are guys from some very big bands. 

Ed, as you have stated before in interviews, many BFG fans were used to the oi!/Hardcore sound which BFG had in their earlier releases whilst your metal sounding albums are still brilliant. As Joel had mentioned at the gig in Hungary, BFG are here to stay and we will release another album". What could we be expecting if this does happen? I love both styles but is there a potential for an album similar to "Last Act Of Defiance" and the split you did with Mistreat?

I can really never predict what the next recording will sound like. It all depends on how my heart speaks to me at certain moments. One thing I can tell you for sure is that it must be genuine in order for it to be written. I always wonder what must have gone through Wagners' heart when he wrote "Ride of the Valkyries". The music conveys the title perfectly, you can really feel it. Or Vivaldis' 4-seasons, you truly feel the changing of the seasons. Or in more modern terms, As the Snow Fell by Ian, you can feel the anguish and the pain in the music, it matches perfectly. It is really hard to tell which direction we will go in. I do have to say that Last Act of Defiance is one of my favorite albums, just for the fact that it is very heartfelt and has the "feel good" atmosphere to it. That album was recorded at the same time as Hate Train Rollin. We recorded 2 albums at the same time with 2 complete different feels and sounds to them. I do already have a few songs written and I can tell you that they are definitely in different directions, no 2 songs sound alike. There are a couple more ballad type songs, and there is something that would have fit off of the last album, and there still is much to write. I guess all I can say is expect the unexpected!!!

The best thing is that if I talk to 10 different people, I will get different answers to what their favorite album is. If I asked 10 people what their favorite album is and 8,9 or even all 10 of them said the same album, then I would not be doing my job right !! But there is definitely something for everyone.

Your bands (BFG,  Before God…etc.) have always been highly influenced by metal music, which obviously is your favorite style. What is your objective professional opinion (as a musician) about Old school bands (Oi!/R.A.C.) and “New School” Hatecore trend?

It is all about what is in your heart. Your music needs to convey your lyrics. You can’t close your mind to different styles of music, I listen to so many various types of music that it influences me in many ways. As for Oi/RAC, my favorite part of that music is the albums/bands from the early years. The spirit and energy are amazing!! One of the most perfect albums for me is Mistreat “Flame of the North”.  Unfortunately, not much RAC/Oi captures me these days, there are a few good bands out there, but there seems to be too many things sounding the same from the music to the lyrics. It is so 4/4 time and I have a hard time really getting into it. Also with “hatecore”, honestly, I think when a band tries to fit a certain genre it ends up boxing itself in.

Apart from the slogan we all know by heart, what “14 words” means for you in real life? In what moral values you educate you children?

For me, safety, warmth and just teaching your children good values and morals and responsibility is important. When you children never go hungry or cold and always know that they have the support of their parents, that is what it is all about to me. The times these days have changed so much when it comes to parenting and what is available to children. You have to raise them very aware of everything out there.

  

Talking about historical memory, what is your comment about the latest actions of the German and Austrian authorities – destroying and removing the graves of Rudolf Hess and Hitler’s father – Alois? Do you think that history could be erased in order to be forgotten forever?

You can’t run and hide from the past. If you label your system as being a democracy, then you have to give fair play to everything. By doing such things, they create this “interest” from people that are curious about why history is being covered up. You can’t erase history, it is there for everyone to learn from.

Imagine that you have a possibility to meet Leon Degrelle (R.I.P) for just a day. How will you spend the time with him?

I would want to sit down and listen to his tales of glory. It would be such an inspiration and honor to speak to such a man that has seen and done so much in his lifetime.

Blitz questions…when was the last time:

-         Someone called you “old man” J

-         A few winters ago. He was eating those words when this “old man” took his young punk ass and threw him out the door, face first!!! J

-         You got in fight

About a year and a half ago, I had some big jackass kissing the floor. He made the mistake of trying to grab me by the throat. It’s a mistake I don’t think he will ever make again. J

-         You read a book (title, author, etc.)

-         I have about 4 books going on at the moment. A good book I can recommend is called “Enemy at the Gates”. I don’t recall the authors name at the moment, but the book is about the battles against the Ottoman Empire. It is a great and informative read.

-         You bought a record (CD or LP)

I actually just bought the new Accept album called “Stalingrad”. The song “Stalingrad” itself is amazing!!!

How would you describe our blog, if you need to recommend it to a friend?

I would recommend it as somewhat of an encyclopedia for someone that is looking into non-mainstream/true underground music.

 I know it’s hard to take more then just a few days-off in USA, but when we can expect to see you again in Europe?

I am not sure at the moment, but I definitely hope it will be soon!!

Ed, I was really glad to do an interview with you again, thanks a lot for your time. I hope to meet you in real life one day. Your final words and message to our readers?

Toscana Oi! Fest

Hello comrades who follow Fatherland blog.

Now I want tell you about a gig named “Toscana Oi! Fest” which took place in Lucca/Italy on 02 June 2012. Two bands have played for this gig: LINEA OSTILE and THE WRONGDOERS because the other bands which were supposed to play couldn’t come because of some problems.

Linea Ostile it’s a new band from North of Italy and has some members of Stato Asociale, The Wrongdoers it’s an Oi! Skinhead Band from Helsinki/Finland, and have some members from Mistreat. This was the first time that they played in Italy and I was curious to meet and see them playing.

So, Tuscany is the region where I’m living and for me it was easy go to the gig because my hometown Pisa is close to Lucca.

I and a friend of mine started from our city at middle afternoon, when the sun was still high in the sky and weather was hot. We arrived in Lucca at 19:00 o clock and we went to the gig’s pub where we started to drink some beers with our local friend. I met also my friend from Firenze, Prato and Pistoia that came after me, it was nice to meet comrades from Tuscany all together in one time…

I was looking forward to see Wrongdoers performance!!! After around a hour they arrived at the pub and I came to them to say “welcome”. I met for first Santtu (the guitarist) and we talked about their trip from Finland, later I knew Atte (the drummer) and the rest of the band.

At 10:00 PM  the gig have started with Linea Ostile. Sincerely while they were playing I was outside the pub and I can’t tell  how many songs they did, but fortunately I was close to door and I could hear some cover songs like “Stato di Polizia” of Peggior Amico and one milestone and most famous Italian song, “Rivolta” by Plastic Surgery.  They have played their own songs also, and I can say that they have a great sound. I hope they will produce a demo CD in the future!

Finally after Linea Ostile came the expected moment of Wrongdoers, all people were looking forward to see them I was also very curious to see the Finnish band.

The band played all songs from his album “Helsinki” like “Fighting for your life”, “My home” and the best song “Oi! For Finland”, so the last refrain of this song dedicated to Italy when the singer singing “Oi! For Italia!” was nice for me hear this and I think all people who hear this were happy like me. So Wrongdoers sounds like true skinheads Oi! music and I can say that is fucking nice!!! I hope to see again one of their gigs in Italy.

The gig closed with Wrongdoers but the night was still young and I and my friends continued to drink rivers of beer eh eh! During drinking time I talked with Atte and Santtu and I found that they are a pleasant people and I spent good time with them.

In the end I came back to my home at 5:00 AM and I slept for recover my strength whiles me thinking about the gig….

The next day I had my belly full of beer but at the evening I was back to the pub to meet again my comrades and the Wrongdoers guys. I drank some beers with them and I remember Atte with Piaggio’s t-shirt, which was funny because he is a fan of the famous Italian scooter: Vespa. I had big eyes when I saw this and I’m glad see comrades that have your same passion and dress with t-shirt from your city! So, we talked to Renne (he also like and have Vespa) about their scooters but the time passes and the time to say goodbye is near…

I and my friends brought Finnish to their hostel and we gave them our greetings and wishes for a save journey back home.

These days were very nice and I’ll keep them forever in my heart.

Blood&Honour Hexagone Interview

1. We welcome to our pages Loic, the leader of B&H Hexagone (France). Please, introduce your organization in a few words. As far as I remember, the name of the French B&H Division was „Midgard”. Can you please, clarify this issue?

 Firstly, I’ would like to thank you for the interview for your blog. We are a bunch of friends and most of us live in Southern France in Marseille. Some of us were members of BH Midgard, before the section was closed down. We decided to continue with the BH activity, but we preferred to establish a brand new Division, consisted by young people, which we named Hexagone in reference to France. For us it was important to have an official French BH Division, so this was the reason why B&H Hexagone was created.

2. How many gigs you organize per year? Do you organize other events?

We try to organize at least two gigs every year, but this is not always possible, because in our region is very hard to find a good concert hall. Apart from the gigs, we also organize social meetings where comrades can come with their families and children, because for us family have very important role.
This summer we’ll organize “Summer Solstice” on 23 June, most of our members are attracted by Paganism, and because of this the logo of our Division is Irmimsul ( The Tree of Life). This summer we also organize a weekend in the wild nature with canoe and camping under the open sky. For us is important to organize various events, and to allow those who are not interested in music to participate in our activities and therefore to bring together even more people who interested in our cause. 14 words!

3. You live in Marseille, a city infamous as “capital of Islam”, not only in France, but in whole Europe as well. What is the racial situation in the city, or perhaps I must ask this question in more direct way…How many White Frenchman’s remained to live in Marseille? 

Definitely the racial situation in city reached a catastrophical level, where the Whites are not a majority. I’m 31 years old and I’ve spend almost all my life here, and I will never leave Marseille, because this is MY CITY! We are forced to live in struggle and people are afraid. But aside from its population Marseille is a beautiful city with a pleasant nature and climate. And for sure like all the other large cities in France we already wonder if there will be a place for us after a few years.

4. Do you have contacts with other NS organizations in Europe? Have you ever had any problems with Chauvinists abroad, because you are French?

We are very close friends with French Hammer skins, and those from Switzerland (Greetings, lads J ) and Italy as well. We don’t have a lot of contacts with other BH Divisions, but I hope this will change in the future. We had no problems with Chauvinist because of being French, the only ones who don’t like us at gigs are the Germans, but they don’t like anyone, so it’s not a problem for us hahahaha.

 5. What do think about Separatism in Europe in general? What is your opinion about the Flemish separatist tendencies in Belgium or those of the Basks in Spain? Do you think it’s possible that France could be divided by national, religious or other reasons?

In the present moment the White World is quickly fading away, so it will be pity to make separations, instead of unity. I’m proud to be French, but I’m also a European and I see nothing logical in Separatism. I don’t think that any part of France will wish be separated.

6. French Nationalism is known in Europe mostly by Jean-Marie Le Pen. Some conservative Nationalist organizations and radical European patriots are not very kind when they are talking about “Front National”. What is the official position of BH Hexagone about this topic?

I can’t speak on behalf of all BH Hexagone members, because not all of us share same opinion about this subject. Although I know that Mr. Le Pen is not loved by everyone, for me he is an important person, he was the first who imposed the Nationalist ideas in my country in the times when Communism was dominating in big part of Europe. Some of his actions are questionable, but we must never forget that he was a politician who couldn’t afford to say everything he wanted to. I’m convinced that deep in his heart he shares the same ideas like us.

7. How the political movement in France looks like in present times? Are there problems and inner fights between the organizations? 

The French political movement is not on very good level, there are just a few important organizations. The only one which is worthy on political level is "Mouvance Identitaire, but for most of us it’s difficult to accept them because they often cooperate with Jewish organizations.

"Mouvance trosieme" is also trying to impose their way of thinking, but it’s really hard for them to reach their goal. I don’t feel close to these organizations, even though sometimes I attend their demonstrations, because those organizations exist.

8. What is the situation with the music scene in your country? As far as I know some of the active bands are “Frakass” (two of its members play for “Brutal Attack”), Bordelboys", "Lemovice”…can you add more names to the list? Do you have any idea what have happened to the old French bands from the late 80’s like "Evil Skins", “9eme Panzer Symphonie”, "Bunker 84", "Brutal Combat" and "Legion 88"?

I would say that the French scene isn’t on a very high level, even when I knew some people will not be pleased of this. Except the bands you have mentioned, there aren’t any others who deserve attention. I can add "Hais et Fiers" and "Cellules 23", but for the moment they are inactive. Soon one new band will appear (their name is “Hold Fast”, we are looking forward for the release of their album. Despite of all we can enjoy concerts where people from all over France are welcomed, because there are no troubles between the different organizations Hammer Skins,BH Hexagone, Front des Patriotes, Lyon Dissident...

  From the old bands some of the guys are still around the scene like the singer of “Bunker 84”, one of the members of "Brutal Combat" and one from "Kontingent 88". I don’t know them personally, just have seen them on few gigs. Listening to “Legion 88” still makes our skins picks and all of us know the lyrics by heart, but their singer is not welcomed to our gigs due to various reasons.

9. An off-topic question…do you follow football? Do you remember one important date … 17^th November 1993, "Parc des Princes" Stadium in Paris. Any memories left J ?

Actually I’m not interested in football, because I don’t like to watch a bunch of niggers running after a ball, earning monthly more than I can earn in my entire life.  About the exact game you are talking about – I was 12 years old by the time and of course I have watched the game* on TV. This idiot David Ginola gave you the victory, and I, like all the kids at my age, was very sad. But now when I look at the “French” players and those of Bulgarian team, I surely support your team.

* (Bulgaria won the game by 1-2, scoring in the last seconds and qualified for the 1994 World Cup in USA instead the National team of France. On the tournament after few glorious and unforgettable games Bulgarian team reached the semi-final !!!)

10. What do you know about Bulgaria, about our history and Nationalism?

I know almost nothing about Bulgaria, but for sure your country will be one of my future destinations. I only know that Bulgarian girls are really beautiful hahaha.
Seriously speaking, I just know that a lot of people share a Nationalist view, which is uncommon thing for the French people.

11. Your vision about Europe in next 20 years?

I don’t want even to talk about this, because I don’t want to cry. I just know that if there is any hope for our continent and for the White race it comes from Eastern European countries such as Hungary, Bulgaria, etc. All Western European countries are lost, when I visit Germany or England I can clearly see that not just France is in this shitty situation.

Pluton Svea - Best of the Best

For those of you who don´t know know Pluton Svea, its one of Sweden's biggest WP-bands all times.After their debut album "Genom Kamp Till Seger" (The struggle continues till victory) in 1994 lead singer left the band and was replaced by the drummer Jocke Karlsson.Up to 2000 the band released six more albums including the five songs mini cd entitled "Pitbull power”, which became the one of the most popular albums in the history of Swedish WP scene. In 2001 Pluton Svea split up after Jocke Karlsson left the band. Later has also released Pitbullfarm,Here we go again (solo) and is also been chorus for artists and bands like Saga & Frostfödd.

Aside from those 5 new songs, the disc contains 17 of the best songs from Pluton Svea, which are earlier released, most of them remastered. A must for every nationalist!

Blood&Honour banned in Russia

Supreme Court of Russia declared extremist - the international neo-Nazi organization “Blood and Honour” and banned its activity in Russia, reported official representative of Attorney General's Office Marina Gridneva.

As it was determined, the ideology of the organization is racial hatred, nationalism, religious and social intolerance, anti-Semitism, hostility to Caucasian, Asian and African nations, and intention for violence, murder and destruction of property of these people.

According to Gridneva, leaders and members of the organization pursue an aim to change constitutional system of Russian Federation.

Some active members of this organization have been already prosecuted for committing serious and high extremist crimes and terrorism.

The act that recognized the organization as extremist enlarges opportunities of police to prosecute not only active members of the organization but also its abettors, ideologists, who favour the activity of the organization.

European Skinhead party in Germany

Hello everyone! I really wonder how to start this report after 4 days of almost no sleeping, too many things happened in too less time, but I’ll do my very best to write down all the important details around this event.

So I guess it’s all started when I saw the gig flayer in Internet, with Endstufe, Legitima Ofesa and Les Vilains on it and I said to myself – “this will be a great gig”. Few weeks later two more bands (Faustrecht and Brassic) were added, so I made my decision to go. I was also very lucky to have a local hosts recommended by an Australian comrade, so everything seems to be as a perfect holiday for me (like it was). Unfortunately there was another big gig on the very same day in Hungary, but I have already made my choice where to go.

My journey started on the very early morning of Friday with a two hours flight from Sofia to Dortmund, after which I took a train to central Germany’s city of B. where my hosts was waiting for me. We walked around the city for about an hour sightseeing old buildings, castles and enormous churches which are very typical for Germany – a country full of history and spirit. After having a tasty dinner we headed to Nienhagen, located about 80 km. away from us, to meet with comrades and to fix the details about the gig organization on the next day. The gig venue appeared to be a tall building with a large yard area around. The concert was announced as an “open air” event and all the 1200 tickets were sold out. I had some beers and laughs with comrades trying not to get too drunk (without success J ) to be in god condition for the next day.

On the next day after just a few hours of sleeping we went back to Nienhagen around 12 a.m., where the preparation for the concert has already begun. A stage with professional audio equipment was erected, tons of beer, food and merchandise was put in their places waiting for the massive attack of gig attenders.  The gate was open at 17.00, and the gig started about an hour later. I was glad to help the org’s dealing with the visitors from abroad, which should have their already prepaid tickets from me.

The first band for the night was Brassic a patriotic Oi! band from Orange County/USA. The band is active since 2008 and they already made their debut album in 2010 called “Voice of Freedom”. They played mostly their own stuff, from which I really liked “Fight to win” plus two covers of Skrewdriver – “Boots and Braces” and “I don’t like you”. They got a nice acceptation from the crowd, despite the fact they confessed they are just a bunch of ugly Americans, who are too fat to play Oi! (hahaha).

Right after them was time for Belgium finest Les Vilains. According not only by my opinion they are one of the best Oi! bands for the last decade. They played a set with only own songs mainly from the last two length albums such as  “Nous Serons Toujours La”, “Jet set skinhead”, Mongoi - Oi”, “Dieter & Oliver”. Their set was short because of the usual freedom of speech suspensions by the German “democratic” authorities. Unfortunately this was one of the last gigs of the band, because they decided to call out a day by the end of this year due to various reasons. I was really glad that I had the chance to see them live finally.

Third on stage appeared Fautrecht, a band who needs no special introduction. Band is active for more then 15 years, always being true to they roots in music and to the idea of Social Revolution in Europe of Nations as a message. Their set was consists by their very best songs from the last decade like: “Die Macht Des Kapitals”, “Der Aufstand / Revuelta / Rivolta”, “Forver Young” and “Where have all the Bootboys has gone”. For my regret they didn’t played most of their songs in English, but I guess it was because the vast majority of the gig visitors were German or from German speaking nations.

Fourth on the schedule were the Italians from Legittima Offesa, from which set I could hear only the few last songs because I spend some time talking to friends from Austria and Germany which I was in touch on i-net. From what I saw they have a lot of fans on German basis which love to see them live. Last songs of their performance were cover of “You’ll never walk alone” and “Running Riot” by Cock Sparrer. The guys from the band were furious on stage plating with heart and soul, showing themselves as real professional musicians.

So after all these great bands around midnight were finally time for the last band for the evening – the Legends from Endstufe!!! Their 31 years of existence makes then the long running German skinband ever. The area in front of the stage turned into a large pogo battle field and the security has a lot of work to do with some of the ultra aggressive “dancers”  J The crowd sing-a-long every word from the “evergreens” which was played such as: “Glatzenparty”, “Eine Rose für Dich”, “Renee”, “Working Class”, “In Die Eier” and “Küsst meine Boots” just to mention a few. Their set lasted for about 2 hours with a few encores in the final.  It was a second to none performance which was the perfect and end for the perfect night we all had.

There was a small private after party after the gig where we shared our impressions of the gig with skinheads from near and afar. I had the chance to speak for a while with Suck from Les Vilains, who appeared to be a very calm and nice person and also with the guys from Brassic I had a few beers with. The part ended early in the morning and I was very tired, but also very pleased from the whole event.

To sum it up, it was one of the best gigs ( if not the best) I’ve ever visited, with the top of the bands from the skinhead scene both old and new. Gig was attended by 1200 plus people mainly from Germany, but also from USA, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, France, England, Czech Rep. and me from Bulgaria.

 I would like to thank first and foremost my lovely German hosts Massimo and Joanna for their great hospitality and the wonderful time we had together. To the organizers from “Honour & Pride” for the perfect organization and hard work of the 30 plus people of the crew, who did they job in the best possible way. Respects and greetings also to Peter Hebel and Oli, without them the event could not be possible.  At last but not the least my final message is: Germany – I WILL BE BACK SOON!!!
